SEABOURN OVATION

Day 1 - Philipsburg, Sint Maarten

Step on board the ultra luxurious Seabourn OVATION as you prepare to explore this magnificent itinerary.

Since 2010, Sint Maarten has been a constituent country within the kingdom of The Netherlands. It comprises the “Dutch Side” of the island of Saint-Martin, the other half being a French overseas territory. Philipsburg is its capital and a busy deep-water port city. It is a popular port for cruise ships, and consequently boasts a thriving duty-free shopping community, a range of resorts and villas, and numerous leisure and sightseeing activities, as well as a well-served airport.

Day 2 - Sopers Hole (Frenchmans Cay), BVI

This snug harbor at the West End of Tortola is the classic Caribbean yacht haven, tucked between the high ground of West End on one side and Frenchman’s Cay on the other. It was a notorious den for pirates in the past, who used the high ground to watch for naval ships or potential victims. The marinas and resorts were hard hit by hurricanes Irma and Maria in August and September 2017. But most services have been restored and the community is eager to welcome visitors again. Check on the progress at Pusser’s Landing, the multi-service home of the famous wood-distilled rum and the Painkiller cocktail, which is good even if you’re not in pain. There are numerous restaurants, cafes and bars providing hospitable rest stops for people-watching and yarn-spinning.

Day 3 - Carambola Beach, Saint Kitts and Nevis

Welcome to Carambola Beach, a private beach club that will exclusively host only the guests from Seabourn Ovation for a full, all-included beach day. One of Seabourn’s most popular events is their signature “Caviar in the Surf” and beach barbecue. Uniformed staff members plunge into the water and invite guests to wade in and get iced champagne and caviar at a floating surfboard bar. The day includes a lavish lobster & steak barbecue lunch, watersports, open bar, live music and ample time to soak up the sun on a white-sandy beach with beach chairs and sun umbrellas and full beach club amenities.

Day 4 - Day at Sea

After several days of touring, take the time to recharge before the next adventure. Enjoy the vast amenities onboard, with entertainment and daily activities offered, or lounge by the pool, be spoiled at the spa, try your luck at the casino, exquisite shops, culinary events, live music and theatre shows late into the evening until we arrive at our next amazing destination.

Day 5 - Fort-De-France, Martinique

Fort-de-France, Martinique's capital, with its narrow streets and iron grill-worked balconies, brings to mind New Orleans or Nice. This distinctly French island is a full-fledged department of France, with members in parliament and the senate. Naturally, everyone speaks French, as well as a rapid-fire Creole. The island features a varied landscape, from quiet beaches to lush rain forest to imposing Mont Pelee. Not surprisingly, the shopping in Fort-de-France has a decidedly Gallic flair. Bienvenue to this bit of France in the Caribbean.

Day 6 - Port Elizabeth, Bequia, St. Vincent and Grenadines

Bequia’s Admiralty Bay is a favorite yachtsman’s anchorage. They ferry ashore to join the friendly, low-key locals “under the almond tree,” the chosen meeting place. Stroll along the Belmont Walkway to the Gingerbread for homemade nutmeg ice cream, or Frangipani, run by the daughter of a former prime minister. Continue to lovely, golden Princess Margaret Beach, or round the bend to Lower Bay. Don’t miss the excellent craftsmanship at the Sargeant Brothers Model Boat Shop, it’s a Bequia specialty.

Day 7 - Saint Georges, Grenada

The island of Grenada rises up from the Caribbean in steep, green, volcanic mountains. Sheer cliffs and sandy beaches alternate as you proceed along the coast, and the rainforest interior boasts of crater lakes, natural springs and waterfalls. St. George's, Grenada's capital has long enjoyed the reputation of being the most picturesque harbor in the Caribbean. Founded by the French in 1732, the town retains many elements of its Gaelic heritage, particularly in the architecture along Market Square and the Esplanade. Since wooden structures were outlawed long ago because of repeated fires, many buildings were constructed out of the brick brought over as ballast in trading ships of old. Quaint buildings line the waterfront, tiny pastel houses stand between lush jungle and sandy beach, and multicolor-roofed bungalows climb up the hillsides. The island's fame is derived from the spices it produces and exports all over the world.

Day 8 - Bridgetown, Barbados

Bridgetown, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a refined capital city that elegantly showcases its four centuries of British lineage. This charming island was initially inhabited by Amerindian communities 1,500 years ago, but in the 17th century, Barbados emerged as one of the most prolific sugarcane producers worldwide. At its zenith, the revenue from this sweet crop surpassed the combined income of all other British colonies.

A stroll through Bridgetown is a journey through time. From the statue of Admiral Horatio Nelson to the stately Parliament Buildings, the imposing St Michaels Cathedral and St Mary’s church, and the tranquil Jubilee Gardens, each step is steeped in history. Your exploration continues over the picturesque Chamberlain Bridge and along a scenic seaside boardwalk, leading you to an array of exquisite shoreline cafes and restaurants.

Witness the ancient Baobab trees in Queen's Park — the Caribbean's largest — standing as silent sentinels to the island's vibrant past. Take time to unwind on a peaceful beach, delve into the history of a plantation, encounter majestic sea turtles, and even indulge in a tasting at one of the island's famed rum distilleries.

Day 9 - Castries, Saint Lucia

St. Lucia is the sort of island that travelers to the Caribbean dream about--a small, lush tropical gem that is still relatively unknown. The Atlantic Ocean kisses its eastern shore, while the beaches of the west coast owe their beauty to the calm Caribbean Sea. St. Lucia seems like an island plucked from the South Pacific and set down in the Caribbean. Its dramatic twin coastal peaks, the Pitons, soar 2,500 feet up from the sea, sheltering magnificent rain forests where wild orchids, giant ferns, and birds of paradise flourish. Brilliantly-plumed tropical birds abound, including endangered species like the indigenous St. Lucia parrot.

Day 10 - Terre-de-Haut, Iles des Saintes, Guadeloupe

The Iles des Saintes, a tiny cluster of islets off the southern coast of Guadeloupe is what the doctor ordered, if he ordered an unspoiled Caribbean experience. No franchise duty free, no big hotels, no casinos. It is what much of the Caribbean used to be like. Stroll around the little town of Bourg de Saintes. Shop for real French cosmetics from the sidewalk vendors. Grab a seat and a beer and revel in the weather and the pace of the past.

Day 11 - St. Johns, Antigua and Barbuda

Antigua is blessed with an abundance of shining white beaches, and many of these have sprouted top-end resort hotels that engender golf courses and other amenities counted among the best in the Caribbean. A pleasant drive up through farms and tiny villages leads to the commanding fortress on Shirley Heights, from which you can survey the town and the harbor of Nelson’s Dockyard across the island. Once a carenage for British frigates, today it is an enclave of shops and restaurants.

Day 12 - Day at Sea

After several days of touring, take the time to recharge before the next adventure. Enjoy the vast amenities onboard, with entertainment and daily activities offered, or lounge by the pool, be spoiled at the spa, try your luck at the casino, exquisite shops, culinary events, live music and theatre shows late into the evening until we arrive at our next amazing destination.

Day 13 - Great Harbour, Jost Van Dyke, BVI

Smallest of the four main British Virgin Islands, Jost van Dyke takes its name from a 17th-century Dutch pirate who was among the BVI’s first European settlers. Just three square miles in size, this rugged island remains largely unspoiled — perfect for lazing on one of its pristine white-sand beaches like White Bay, consistently ranked among the finest in the Virgin Islands. Weather permitting, your Seabourn captain will anchor at Great Harbour on the island’s southern coast, the idyllic place to deploy the ship’s marina for a day of play in the warm Caribbean waters. Rent a dingy or charter a boat to explore some of the outlying islets and cays; nearby Diamond Cay offers great snorkeling. Scuba enthusiasts can head to The Playground, an iconic dive site that attract manta rays, reef and nurse sharks, colorful parrotfish and squid. For terra firma adventure, hike a few miles east of Great Harbour to the Bubbly Pool, where waves roll through the boulders to form a Jacuzzi-like pool. Be sure to try a Painkiller, the island’s signature rum cocktail, at the world-famous Soggy Dollar Bar in White Bay.

Day 14 - Carambola Beach, Saint Kitts and Nevis

Day 15 - Philipsburg, Sint Maarten

Disembark where it all began.  This thriving duty-free shopping community, a range of resorts and villas, and numerous leisure and sightseeing activities, as well as a well-served airport.
